Collective Action

A key role of Living Landscapes is to ensure others understand community collective action so everyone can work positively to improve the environment.

Living Landscapes South Canterbury Members

We operate under the Principles of:

  1. Trust

  2. Open Communication

  3. Reciprocity

Building trust with Councils and other partners is essential to success.

Open communication will ensure we have information to focus well planned action, and that others understand the benefits of collective action.

It is important that all involved acknowledge local action with reciprocity; reward positive actions with other positive actions.

When we participate in formal regulatory processes, we will, wherever possible:

  • Demonstrate what is possible through action

  • Engage with iwi and regulators or other key partners early

  • Mentor and empower local catchment groups to undertake their own negotiated process with agencies.

We will only use member funds or donations to support participation in formal regulatory processes.
